Rethink Things is the storytelling platform sparking a revolution in our relationship with things. Our mission? A new material culture. One in which we value our possessions as we should. One that is better for our mental health than our current culture of overconsumption. And - perhaps most importantly - one that is better for our planet.
Society has seen great progress the past few decades. But as our wealth grew, we rapidly lost a meaningful connection with the world around us and with the things we own. Rethink Things is the embodiment of our quest - or treasure hunt if you will - towards a new material culture.
By joining our online community - whether it’s by reading our blogs, following and engaging with us on social media, reading The Monthly Mindshift or actively contributing - you can join our quest.
Rethink Things shares uplifting stories that inspire us to reimagine the relationship we have with our things. Our journalists - we like to call them thought travellers - bring new perspectives on matters such as consumption, economic growth, our current linear and future circular economy, and the preloved movement.
An important part of this is sharing the stories of the pioneers that rethink our material culture, building an ever-expanding pioneer database. Both through interviewing them or, when we are too intimidated to call them, by writing about them in our own words. We highlight what you can learn from each pioneer, inspiring you to join the revolution.
Are we journalists? Activist? Revolutionists? Perhaps we're all, perhaps we're none. We don't know. What we do know is that we're on a mission to discover a new material culture, a new way of owning, living and thriving. It's a journey with a destination yet unknown. While we're voyaging, we'll call ourselves thought travellers.
Rethink Things is powered by OLX. What does that mean in practice? Basically that OLX pays the bills. Also, OLX is so generous to lend us its Graphic Designer, Rodrigo Pritsch (rethink how ugly this platform would’ve been without him), as well as Chief Communications and ESG Officer Ana Garcia, who makes sure we stay on track of our mission: sparking a revolution in how we think about things.
Apart from that, we work with independent journalists with an intrinsic motivation to advance our material culture. OLX does not meddle with the stories we make. We also write stories about allies of OLX in the preloved sector. Because it is our goal to grow the preloved movement as a whole, not OLX’s business.
